“I wanted to treat my husband to a weekend away and used Trip Advisor to guide my choice. We are not fans of Newquay itself, but like Fistral and the surrounding area.
We also needed somewhere dog friendly which narrowed down our search somewhat. There was some confusion on the hotel booking sites regarding dogs, but a phone call to the hotel clarified dogs were welcome but you needed to book directly with the hotel itself.
I booked a standard double but on arrival found we had been allocated a standard plus room (room14) which had the most amazing views of the sea. The wall directly behind the bed had a stunning lighthouse scene which we were told on checkout was Trevone Lighthouse. Apparently there are different coastal scenes in each room but all are local to the area.
I loved the decor and the room was very clean and well presented. The bathroom (although very small) was perfectly adequate and also very clean.
The breakfast offered a good choice of cereal, fruit, yoghurt etc served buffet style, with hot food cooked to order.
We had the vegetarian cooked breakfast which was excellent. We didn’t use the restaurant in the evening during our stay.
The hotel car park is small, but the main Fistral beach car park is only a 5 min walk away so this wasn’t a problem for us.
I would definitely stay here again as the location is superb. My husband spends many nights away staying in ‘functional’ hotels, so it was lovely to stay for leisure in a hotel which just offered something a little different. We came back to the hotel early just to soak up the view and watch the sun go down. Very relaxing.”
